My 4x4 transfer case is weird. I think. The shift pattern is straight back, not the standard Ford shift pattern. I also have a 2Lo. And yes, we tested it to make sure it was 2 wheel drive. I have never heard of a transfer case like that. Anyone got any suggestions. And no, I am not complaining as it works like a charm. But I would be interested to know a little more about what I am dealing with if I ever need parts or something. Also, the transfer case looks stock but I have yet to crawl under and actually get numbers to check.

Thanks

yeah mine goes straight back as well, My buddy has a 73? f250 and it has 4 hi, 4hi lock, 4 lo, and 4 lo lock, guess that has nothing to do with it but my point was it is weird too. I had thought it was wierd in the 2 wheel aspect but then I remebered its full time 4 wheel, thought it was cool that it had locking differentials stock, anyone know if that is true?

This transfer case would not have been an option in 89 would it? It doesn't appear to have anything but orginal. Is there any way someone could have added something inside to get the 2lo? Like I said, I need to crawl under and get some numbers.... I'll wait til it stops raining=)

The stock t-case in your 89 Bronco should be a B-W 13-56, either manula or electric shift. The 2LO option leads me to belienve someone may have installed a NP 205. To be sure, you need to crawl underneath, and look for any emblems or ID tags, and describe what the t-case looks like. Take a pic or two if possible. There is a website called www.truckpulls.com that helps to ID various t-cases. The option of 2LO is an advantage when offroading, but was not offered on the B-W 13-56. It has 2HI/N/4HI/4LOW.
