Sometimes grinding noise then have to stop , put in park and move 4wd shifter back and forth before it goes back into low range . Tc in neutral when grinding . Well you're always suppost to be in N before shifting into low gear.. sounds like you didn't the first go-around??

Sounds like it's shot. Or maybe you're just not using enough force to put it in/take it out of gear. I know on the 01 Ram it's tough as all heck. So hard my girlyfrined can't do it.. My Bronco it's just the push of a button :-& #036;

Not my first bronco or 4x4 . Was in neutral before going into low range . Shifter is going through the range of motion but not coming out of low . Broncos usually go into and out of gear fairly easy . My 86 ram is hard like yours but bronco not like that. Hope its not completely shot :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> Thanks for the response

You wrote that it is stuck in low range and WILL NOT COME OUT!

Then you wrote... "put in park and move 4wd shifter back and forth before it goes back into low range ."

If it won't come out of low, then it can not go back into low. THerefore the rest of what you wrote is of questionable reliability.

There are a lot of guys on here that are more knowledgeable than me, but you have to write clearly for them to be able to help.

It sounds to me like you have a linkage problem, or a transfercase problem. Of course you already knew that, but just didn't want to hear that.

Good luck with it.

Sorry for the gray area . Anytime the truck moves , its in low range . When grinding noise starts , the truck will not move until i move shifter around a few times . Looking under the truck , shifter seems to be moving tc lever . Never rebuilt a tc before but have a feeling thats where im heading here. Was wondering if someone here had this problem before and could shed some light on how serious this is . Just a shifter fork and i might try to rebuild mine but if its gears that are bad , might be better off with a junk yard unit .

Thanks for your response , will try to be a little more detailed in future posts
