Okay so i have a 88 bronco eddie bouer edition i tryed to engage my 4wd via push buttion and manualy locking hubs and it didn't work when i pushed the 4wd buttion lights slightly dimmed and the rpm s droped a little but the 4wd engaged idiot light on the dash didn't.go on and i was still n 2wd so i checked the fuses. There all good i don't know if the transfer case selection motor located on the outside of the t case us to blame or the transfer case its self is shot. If anyone. Has a idea please let me know

It is more likely the transfer case selection motor. Hopefully you have a garage that you can use to check it out.

Good luck,

..by the way, is relay (for that 4WD-2WD button operation) located under dash somewhere? My -88 has has only that one fusebox (under steering wheel, inside cabin ), in fenderwell (drivers side, engine compartment) there is no fuse/relay box!

The transfer case motor is under control of the ECM, there are no relays directly in control of the motor. The 88 did not have a Under Hood Fuse Panel. However it does have fusable links. Fuse 6 does Speed Control, electronic shift-4 wheel drive, Cargo Lamp. Fuse 12 (either a fuse or CB) does Tailgate window, power mirrors, power door locks, electronic shift-4 wheel drive.

Good luck,
