Transfer case pops out

My 89 302 auto drives great in 2 w hi. On the rare occasion I use 4 wheel hi it pops out to a false neutral went letting off the gas. When this occurs I cant shift back to 4 w hi but have to go to 4 w lo, and its stuck there. However if I goose the throttle it also pops out and I can shift it back to 2 w hi. I only use the 4whl for inclement weather. Any thoughts or solutions.

STOP driving it and pull the T case . I would bet the oil pump feed line has failed and pretty quick it will no longer move I have rebuilt a few of these and the less hard parts you destroy the cheaper it will be . Heres a link to a very good parts source for these or any T cases http://www.riversidegear.com/ . Do it your self thats how I learned how to rebuild them when a local shop wanted $400 to look at mine cost me $350 to do the whole rebuild on mine .
