I have an AOD tranmission in my 90 Bronco ad replaced the tranny pan gasket about 2 months ago. I accidentally overfilled the tranny with ATF, drained most of it out, but its still over. The truck is still leaking ATF, its coming from the drivers side.

I would drain out all you can, and start over filling it a little at a time, like one quart, until it's close to full or 5 quarts. Run thru all of the gears with the motor running and check the level again. IF you are indeed overfull, it's possible that some fluid will spew out through the dipstick. Not a good thing, as it will smoke when it hits the motor or worse, catch fire if it leaks onto the exhaust manifolds. I've had a couple of auto trannies do this while driving or at start-up.

Mine is back down to normal, but its leaking from around the shift linkage near the pan. I think I may have nicked the gasket when I tried to get the overfilled oil out.
