Just bought a 90 full size bronco. It has the e40d tranny. It shifts to 2nd kinda hard but won't shift into drive (3rd). If i shift down to 2nd and back to drive at around 40 - 45 mph it will shift into drive and overdrive. I'm hoping this is a simple fix, if anyone has ideas i'd really appreciate them. Thanks

Hello that tranny is totally electronic it works with solenoid packs inside the tranny . There are 2 connectors in the top of the tranny I beleive the drivers side make sure there plugged in maybe unplug them and plug them in again to reseat the connection . There is a switch on the shift lever at the tranny that tells the EEC that the tranny has been put in drive for engine timing reasons and shift control you may get lucky and that is bad but its still expensive pretty much anything with that tranny is expensive . but theres a couple things to try . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

My AOD was doing the same thing and come to find out it was the T-Case. I know it could be your tranny b/c we have different ones, but just something else it could possibly be.
