Tranny problem

ok i feel like a realy big noob got the motor to start and now the tranny wont engage any help will be great

ok just checked and the truck will start in any gear not just neutral or park if that helps

Is the linkage conected to the transmission? If its not, the needle will can move to "D" but the transmission will still be in park.
