Hey all,

So I bought a 91 bronco automatic w/ push button overdrive and 4x4 and a plow, I had big plowing dreams.

So I put on the od and 4x4, drop the plow and go the truck basically goes into neutral even though it is in drive. Maybe an amateur question but it's killing me that this truck is completely useless in the snow. Anything would be useful.

Hi Syco..., welcome..!

More info. on your truck needed.... (fill in your info. pages.)

1st. you need the OD off... 2nd. you prob. need 4wd low range. 3rd. RU sure the wheels aren't just spinning..? 4th. check/test the systems with the plow "up".!

Could be the front dr. isn't even engaging.

Overdrive needs to be in the off position, transmission functions differently with overdrive off. front dr= front drive axel-front wheels. In 4 wheeldrive low range(4x4lo or 4lo) the truck generates a lot more torque or power for moveing the snow with the plow. Also as mentioned by bully bob does the truck drive good with the plow in the up position ?

First Major Question, DO Your Tires Spin or does the engine just Rev freely? (IE like it was in park or neutral )

the answer to this question determines the rest of the thread,

Ya., do fill-in your info. pages...that info. shows on your every post.

Incl. all that you know., eng., trans, gear ratio., traction devices, tire sizes, is plowing all you need this truck for? where are you? etc.

This helps members help you more accurately. It can be up-dated at any time.

4 wheel drive is actually 2 wheel drive (with stock differentials). (1 front & 1 rear)

With traction devices., posi., lockers, etc. you can get both rear wheels to drive. (Front traction devices can create problems in hard-packed snow.)

OD is for hi-speed cruise fuel savings...

Front drive is simply when it's locked into 4 wheel drive...the front wheel(s) are pulling as well as the back pushing.

If your tires aren't just spinning (1 front & 1 rear) due to slick surface & plow down...you may have a trannie issue. Have you checked the fluid.?

As we've said/asked...what's it doing with plow up & on dry ground..?

Plow up driving on dry ground is fine a lil overheating but my temp gauge is broken to but otherwise drives fine

Fluids fine

Tires aren't spinning with plow down

I'm in ny(long island)

I would like to use the truck as a train car and plow when needed

Also how do I set up my info ??

that makes absolutely no sense. can you get it to do the same thing ever when the plow is up? the only thing I can think of is you are shorting something out with your plows wiring,

my only guess is when your plow is down ( for whatever reason) its making it act like its putting the transfer case into neutral, the manual tcases have

2Hi- 4HI - N - 4L but im not that familiar with electric tcase motors.
