Hey guys Here's whats going on,I have an 81 Bronco 300 I6 with a heavy duty 4spd tranny. I had two problems that I fixed and now I have this third problem that might be related to the other two. First my truck overheated three times and last time the rad blew so there was no coolant whatsoever. I replaced the rad and now I need to replace the gaskets on my water pump but thats a different story. Second problem was a terrible shake in the truck at between 1900 and 2200 rpm in 2nd and 3rd, but in 4th when I went over 95kms or 55ish mph it was unbearable. I found a screwed U-joint the had melted itself the collar and the yoke that I replaced with some effort.
Now Problem is a noise or clanking that sounds like it's coming from the tranny or clutch. its not coming from the rear end because its not there when coasting and its not the motor because you can clutch and rev it and its not there either. It is most noticable when I first start accelerating, once the motor starts moving the truck as I engage the clutch it ticks like a metronome its always there except for when coasting or the clutch is disengaed ( same thing I know) , it goes faster as you accelerate.
I checked for anything loose on the outside of the transmission and everything is solid and tight so it would have to be something to do with the clutch, any Ideas?
