to much spark?

i have an 83 with the 300cid im wanting to get a stronger ignition coil, is it possible to have to much spark? could an over sized coil damage pistons?

NO, but you may need to adjust the plug gap as recommended by the ignition system manufacturer. MSD recommends a larger than stock gap. The reason for playing with the plug gap is to get the best burn. As long as the timing is within specifications, you should have no problem.

The coil, of course, has to be compatable with your ignition system.
