Guys when replacing the tie rods should I do both at once ?, the reason I ask is only the passenger side is bad.

Also on my 87 Bronco theres a light on the dash call "rear anti lock", it comes on from time to time for no apparent reason. Anybody have any idea what this light is for ( I'm assuming its a warning light of some sort ) ?

Thanks in advance.

You can replace one tie-rod at a time. Just count how many times you unscrew the bad one. Also be aware of where the rrod end came off (facing up or down) so you can start the new one in the same spot. Otherwise you can get off 1/2 thread or so and the alignment will be off. You can always do a quick measurement from center to center on tire tread in front and back of the tire.

Thanks Broncoholics, I finally got aroung to putting the new on in today. Heres the weird thing I counted the amount of turns and position of the old one when removing it, but I had to put a full 8 extra turns in to get the new one in and the wheel straight.

I've driven it with my hands off the wheel and it tracks straight as a die and brakes in a straight line also.

Does it sound like its ok or should I have it looked at ?

Alignment checks are usually around 20 bucks, and if you have expensive tires it would be worth it just for the piece of mind. just my .02 though.

Sounds like you got a longer rod end (more threads) which needed to be screwed in further. Its always nice to have an alignment cause you want a bit of toe in for freeway speeds. $40 is much cheaper than replacing tires. Also if the tires are worn, the alignment will be off when you get new tires.
