hello, There are alot of you that did the conversion of flipping the tie rod over and mounting them thru the top of the steering knuckle. As I've seen in the wild horses catalog. I'm intrested in doing this because I've been chasing a steering problem for years on my bronco. I think because my draglink and track bar are not on the same angle, I'm getting bump steer Flipping the t/rod would bring it just about where both will be parallel again. Anyway my question is, what tool did you use other than the $90 tapered reamer from W/h? I'm trying to see if there's a cheaper way just to do 3 holes? thanks for any replies

Your better off buying the soild axle conversion kit, included with mostly everytinhg you need for the conversion.

Snap on sells the tapered reamer and so does Tool Town. Its $40 or so but once you do your set-up the bit will be dull. BC Bronco sells the shims so you can drill out the hour glass shape more.

thanks for the picture broncoholics. I'm wondering if its strong enough for small tires and mostly street use, that I may ream out only half? and not have to use the shims?

Thats what I was wondering. I would think its OK and have enough engaugement from rocking in there. After all its bolted up its not going to fall off. You can always add the shims later if things get sloppy.

The second shim in that photo is for F150 ends. The early bronco ends are smaller and need both to get the hour glass shape out. Take out the small bushing and F150 ends can be used. Its a nice option for future upgrades.

The chevy 1 tone ends are much larger so you have to ream further into the knuckle which takes out the hour glass shape all together. No shims needed.
