I have a 1990 Bronco XLT with a 5.0 engine. When I drive my truck, a loud ticking noise is coming from somewhere near the transfer case. I can feel it in my 4-wd gear selector. It stops around 25-30 mph. Someone told me that I need to change the gears and chain in my transfer case. Anyone know? How hard of a job is that to do? What are the part names so I can price them? Thanks in advance.

With your T case in 2 wheel the chain and front output shaft are not moveing . What has probably happened is the common failure of the oil pump feedline breaking which then cause the pump to seize breaking the metal tab that holds it in place followed by the 4 wheel low shift fork being shattered into pieces . See if you can shift into 4 low with no problems if you can then it may not be that if you cant at this point you probably wont get it to move again because you have uncoupled the main shaft and basically put it in neutral with no way of putting it back . There is a guy on ebay that sells all the parts cheap very easy to rebuild yourself I started a rebuild post here with pics was almost complete but havent had time to update it but what is there will get you a long ways . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I am able to put it in 4 low. It still pulls fine and shifts back into 4 high and 2 high. Any other suggestions?
