i'm getting the bronco lifted on tuesday, and of course murphy's law is kicking in on me. when i make a sharpish right hand turn - like into a parking lot i hear a knocking or thumping noise coming from what i thought was my left (drivers side) front wheel. today i looked at the front of the bronco and it looks like the top of that drivers side front tire is leaning in slightly. i was thinking radius arm bushing. obviously need to have it repaired before a 6" lift.

any ideas?

Tire spacers might help.

thanks but i think its a front end issue like radius arm or bushing more than likely. and it looks like the tire camber is out of adjustment too.

Ball joints i bet you money or spindle bearing mak them turn in to i had to do that whole deal myself cost me 1000.00 dollars cause i waited to get it fixed take the hub and spindle off and check the bearings and then see if its the ball joints cause its leaning in you say , and that what mine did and it will get owrse until you fix it

i would think it may be the ball joints. not sure about the bearings.

it rarely happens only if i have to turn into like a parking lot quickly. other than that even on regular turns it doesnt do it. the parking lots here are weird they always are really inconvenient to turn into AND have a **** or a dip in the entrance to all of them. thats when it makes that clunking noise. right when i turn in and go ver that ****.

other than that it never happens, i could turn my steering wheel all the way to the right and do circles in the street all day and it wont do it. but when i turn right and hit a bump it thumps. thats why i was wondering radius arm bushing.

jack it up have someone watch the ball joints...grab top and bottom of the tire and move it..just watch them closely and that should tell you if it is ball joint or wheel bearing

well. entire front end was gone. ball joints, tie rod, ends, bushings etc... about $1500. but, it's one of those things that would have been done that got done alot sooner.

it's all done! front end rebuilt. lift kit installed with new 35" mickeys. very impressed with the rough country set up. looks great and will post some pics this weekend.

thanks to justbustin as well. he was dead on. it was the ball joints and a whole lot more but, the ball joints were what was causing the clunking sounds. anyhow like he said when you hear that clunking. take it in for inspection because it's probably that and even more. or like swampthing said jack up the front and have someone wiggle the tire and you can see the ball joints just MOVING. and the longer you wait the worse it'll get.

all in all it was a pretty damn expensive project ($3800 includes- kit and front end rebuild and tires), would've been a whole lot less if i didn't have to rebuild the front end. but it sure was worth it guys. again will post pics this weekend.
