So on my 95 5.8 I am trying to determine why my throttle response is off. If i slowly push the accelerator it seems fine but If I try to "floor" it it hesitates. Any suggestions on where to start. Also seems to be idling lower than usual too but I cant say for sure due to no tach.

Who knows..maybe just old technology?

My new truck is electric throttle body..actually everything is electric LOL and is as quick as my foot which is quite nice. I think these older trucks function just fine, but can never compare to new technology.

lol no it just started. I know what you mean but this is a new problem I have found. And it should not be like that if fuel injected. Carb can have some delay but injection should be immediate.

I just learned about the TV cable.. maybe that's not adjusted correctly as that controls your transmission shifts. I know a lot..but this is one thing I have no idea about

get your ignition system checked, if timing is off, or your loosing voltage somewhere then that can cause the hesitation.also when was the last time you changed your fuel filter? as far as old verses new, properly tuned and maintained carbs will go almost shot for shot with an injected setup. also less prone to random electrical issues.

In my car once it had the hesitation on hard acceleration, then it eventually would stop running at a certain point in the throttle while driving down the road, had my whole fuel, vacuume and ignition systems checked, and it was my old point gaps in the distributor. after a couple parts and redialing in the timming, it runs like a champ.

Im going to do a full tune up. I think it is the fuel filter it seems to sputter when it gets low picking up sediment from the fuel treatment i gave her so Ill swap that and see where we go lol.

I hate doing the fuel filter change.. I did it recently while also doing new plugs, wires, cap/rotor, air filter.. still ran the same (like a champ) lol

Seafoam..try that. i use it every 3 months. Works wonders!
