The next in line in a long list of issues. But got to love it lol. Anyways the codes I pulled from the computer says the thermactor air system has a vacuum leak or that the air divertor system is not switching vacuum properly. Now I dont know what it is or where it is. If anyone has a diagram or knows anything about it it would be greatly appreciated. It misses when it gets warm has has a low idol and when your going down the road it it sound like its running out of gas when you step on the gas the power comes back but goes away again. When you hook up a code reader the whole thing comes back runs good everything but goes away in a few miles . I'm just really confused any help would be helpfull.

That does sound like the symptom of a clogged CAT. The thermactor doesn't switch vacuum but is switched by vacuum. It is all that piping from the air pump to the heads and CAT. about 3/4" hoses and perhaps a muffler on the fender. It looks different for different years. Why don't you put your trucks vitals in your signature, it makes answering some questions a lot easier.

Good luck,

:)>-

At the top right of the page, click the link that says "My Controls". On the page that comes up, look on the left side. About half way down the page there is a link that says "Edit Signature". The rest is just like making a post.

Or just click here => Edit Signature

yo; what was the Code #?

for instance, if: Code 311 - Thermactor air system inoperable. The computer determined that for some reason the fresh air injection from the Thermactor system was not present. There are several components that make up this system. The initial component is the smog pump. The first checks I would make are the hoses and plumbing from the smog pump back to the diverter valve (behind the pass. cylinder head) and then on to the crossover pipe at the back of the heads and down to the catalytic converter. The check valves that are at the center of the cross over pipe and the top of the metal tube from the cat are often the culprits as they can and do snap in half as the get old. If the plumbing looks to be in good order we can discuss the slightly more complicated aspects of the system. The diverter valve also has two vacuum lines running to it. Make certain they are in place and intact. (Computer needs to be able to control the flow of fresh air by the Thermactor system).

thanks to Joel!
