I did some serious mudding awhile back and I started having this problem were the temp would go up real high then drop back down to normal. First I washed as much mud outta the radiator as i could, but it still does it time to time... any comments on this???

first i would check for loose or dirty connections or it could be a defective sending unit, or gauge.

Are you loosing fluid? Do you have an overflow tank? Easy first test is right.. Sending unit and thermostat replacement.

Check the temp sending unit Ford has had problems with accuracy I have a 95 and mine was giving false readings ( high then low ) just repaced to a sun gauge and now its a constant you might want to check the thermostat could be pluged up or not opening corectly also radiator might be pluged up lots of things proses of elimination lol Good luck

My Bronco used to overheat after burying it indeep mud, I washed out the rad (outside) thinking it was plugged up with mud. Out of curiousity I tried the rad out of my parts Bronco and that was it.

Not to throw off topic, but what's a recommended thermostat for a 351W in a '95 Bronco. Replaced mine about 3 years ago and it just never really warms up comfortably. It doesn't get decent until I drive it on the highway for at least 10 minutes.

Depending on your area.. You may just need a hotter running thermostat.. Most Auto Parts places can help you with that. Me personally if its winter and running cold I'll cover the radiator to an extent.

Well I bought a 180 degree thermostat today. I'll keep you posted on whether it resolves the issue.
