I have a problem where i leave my bronco for a few weeks without driving it, not by choice but by career. And when i get home it hates starting. I have a 2bbl carb on it, that has been rebuilt though i am not sure of the work. Last time was almost a month between drives and I had to use starting fluid to get her to turn over. Any help on this would be great. I am not dead in the water but it is frustrating as ****

Does it have a mechanical fuel pump mounted on the engine? If so the fuel is just draining back into the tank and it will take a while to start if you leave it for long. You can install a check valve that won't allow it to drain back into the tank. Also when starting push the pedal to the floor and let go to begin with, this chokes the carb. Then while cranking pump the pedal. Another thing you can do is check your fuel lines. They might be old and dry rotted allowing air to get into the lines which will cause the fuel to drain back to the tank even faster.

Yes it is a mechanical fuel pump and that is kindof what i figured was happening. I will see about the check valve is that something you can pick up at an autozone or are they hard to find? Also I am not sure if the choke is working all that great my father in law dropped it when we rebuilt the carb. If i start it everyday, it starts like a dream no matter how hot or cold it is outside, but after a month it was like **** getting her running.

get a good working choke on there and then try it, my 79 f150 had the same fuel problem tho, you most likely just need the checkvalve

How is a carb stupid? It does the air and fuel thingy by itself but with fuel injection it has to have a computer therefore a carburator is smart compaired to FI... Just had to say it, I'm sorry... :-

Okay i will check into the choke and a check valve as well. It would be nice if it started better. Oh and bidi i love carbs i am just tired of having problems. Would bronco graveyard have the choke or is that an autozone part?

also could there be a problem with the float plunger thingy that drops into the hole to stop fuel flow could that be letting gas out

you can go to autozone and buy a manual chock setup, and you have to attcth the cable to the chike and run the puller into the truck itself and pull it to close the choke and then push it back in once running to open the choke, or take the carb to them and see if they can get a rebuild kit for you

Sorry forgot one more thing. Check the fuel lines very closely, especially where they go into the tank and you might also want to invest in a fuel cap. If the gasket on the cap is not sealing everything off you can't build up pressure in the tank. With the tank pressurized it will start easier. Good luck
