sticky starter

hey guys, my starter intermittently will stay engaged and wind up. i have to turn it off for it to stop and try again, it usually wont do it the second time, and it usually only occurs in the morning. Maybe its something in the column? the starter is fairly new. Or maybe the relay?

I've heard that rebuilders surface the starters which then req. a spacer to keep the gear fr. meshing to deep into the ring gear.

If it is runing electrically and not just mechanically hung up, then two things could cause it; the key ignition switch hung up in the start position or the solinoid is sticking. There is not much to the electrical circuit.
