Hey all

My 1984 Bronco XLT V-8 302(i think, im not sure), wont start. It died when i stopped at a stop sign, well its been doing that to, but it died and wont restart and makes a clicking nosie and i replaced the starter sleniod and volt regulater. Ive tried jumping everytime and i tried bypassing the battery and that didnt work. I get the radio, and interior and exterior lights to work, it just wont turn over and i have gas in the tank. I really need to fix this problem, and im hoping its not the starter because i cant afford it. Please if anyone can help, please do.

u can either post here or email me at [email protected]

thanx

Sure sounds like your starter to me or a bad connection. Remove and clean all the connections including the battery to engine block connection. If that doesn't fix it and jumpering around the solinoid doesn't make it start, it sure sounds like the starter is bad. Sorry to say you wasted your money on the voltge regulator since it has no bearing on starting the truck. Start circuit diagram attached.

Try this, the two poles at the back of the starter are connected by a thin steel plate, this is possibly corroded, remove it and make up the same type of plate but made out of brass or copper plate, mine is 2mm thick brass, good luck.
