Starter relay?

How can I tell if its bad and isnt there a way to start it by jumping from one post to another?

apply 12v from batty to the small post (top in this pic..is starter runs, relay is a ok; so, if using ign swith/key to start and it's not gonna turn starter over, ck out ign sw..commom Ford problem

....if not, replace relay after checking cable connection and their Wire Strands for corrosion, etc. from batty to starter and all grounds from Batty to frame, intake (if appl, exh manifold, etc.)

jumper both large posts with JUMPER CABLE -starter should turn

if not...and all CABLES are ok; suspect internal relay damage (on disc) or starter's solenoid (mtd on starter)/ or starter is bad

Thank you for all the information, it turned out to be my starter, I did not think it was my starter cause it was less than 9 months old. oh well still on warrenty.
