well i started my cam project...took about 5-hours to remove the engine. then another 2-3 hours to strip it down to the block. well only 5 bolts broke during the taredown process so i figure if that is the worst thing that happenes then i did good.

here is some pics of where i am now...

and another thing the manifold was not cracked the bolt was loose so the gasket blew out  if anybody wants the old maniflods just let me know and well come up with a price.

got a quick question for you guys out there. Do double valve spring set up's make some noise kinda like a lifter noise when running????

I got my engine running in my truck with the new cam and springs and it just seems too noisey. might just be me but toss me back some info if u can

:)>-

p.s. i replaced all the gaskets in the engine and had the heads checked...ok

i put the valve springs in myself and all the valve keepers are in fully not cocked or anything...new lifters with the new cam i used ford racing lifters from jegs. i reused the rockers and push rods. i'm waiting for my new radiator to come in tomarrow so i can fully break in the cam and lifters. thanks again

josh. :((

If its a very loud clicking noise I would be concerned . I had a comp cams 26r grind in a 351W give up a cam lobe at start up ( must not have been hardened right ) I had adjustable rockers on mine though so I tightened it a little thinking I may have messed up the preload after revving it up again it started ticking again and then I noticed that the rocker was very loose but by then the metal shavings had gone through the motor and pretty much wrecked everything so out it came and I started over . I would look at them very closely . Did you have new valves put in ? did you check the installed height of the valve springs after they were put in ? :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

i used the spring kit from isky racing and it was a direct swap over ... they were the same length just wider because of the duel spring set up. their was no shims under the springs it's not too loud kinda like a quiet stuck lifter... the valves were in perfect condition for 120k.so i didn't touch them. the machane shop that looked at them said they were ok.

as for my rockers their not adjustable, i torqued them down to factory spec. This is a factory ROLLER lifter set up so i used a cam from a 5.0 H.O. set up. this is the cam i used

any more info would be good. :D

ps. the noise is heard under both valve covers and is even across the engine for all the cylinders...i'm thinking bout putting the old valve springs back on the drivers side(easier to get at with the intake not in the way) to see if the noise is gone on that side of the engine.

Ok here's the deal.....the springs are ok no binding or such things of that sort. my problem lies withe the valve train setup some where in it there's play.....all the push rods and rocker arms are loose. as in the cam doesn't seem tall enough to push the lifters up and engage the push rods into the rockers... there is no rocker arm adjustment!!!

and the cam company just keeps on putting me off and not calling me back!!!!!
