I've had my 1989 Bronco for amost a full year and have done some work on it such as a tune up replaced, Spark Plugs, Dis. Cap & Rotor, Plug Wires & Plugs, Coil, Fuel & Air Filters and, Throttle Position Sensor. Also replaces the throttle body & intake gaskets when I pulled the valve covers to replace the gaskets and the EGR Valve.

I am having this strange problem with stalling once in a while. It used to only stall on me about every two or three weeks and only at low speeds such as slowing down at a light or slowing to make a turn. Now its happing more often and my fuel mileage has gone in the crapper!!!!! big time. The one positive note is that it always starts back up and has never left me on the side of the road were my 72 Blaser did often.

The one ofter thing was while driving home in the hot afternoon I heard and felt a loud metal bang and my truck shuttered but kept going. I got home and check my Bronco and found nothing wrong?? I checked it again when I changed the oil and climded all under the truck and still nothing but it will shutter once in awhile like it wants to stall but firms right up and keeps going which is good.

Any help would be great!!

As to these sounds.....this is the sound a Bronco makes as it swallows a "jeep"....

---"climbed all under the truck and still nothing"--

Are you sure you looked good..? jeeps, once swallowed, usually leave a "pink" oooze emitting from the muffler & exhaust....!

:)) :)) :)) Sorry, got home early & had a couple beers > ....couldn't resist .... >:)

Its a 1989 Bronco wtih the 302 with fuel injection not sure on the (Air Flow Sensor) or where its located. If thats a possible factor don't mind changing it out. This truck had leaves and spider webs under the hood on the engine when I pulled the valve covers and air intake it sat somewhere for a time. It has good high oil PSI. and a new oil pan gasket so someone did some work on it. I think I have most of the bugs worked out of it other then this last one. It has manual everything other then the windows and doors which I like. I don't have a timing light haven't had one for about 12 years will have to pick one up.

There is nothing on the two hoses coming from the Filter Box to the Throttle housing could it be located on the throttle housing itself. I would have to go look but its not on the hoses I have taken them off sevsral times to make room for other repairs.

You know, Jeeps are like tampons...every girl has to have one.

Sounds like you are running a 302. On the firewall, passenger side, should be a black kinda rectangular plastic box with an electrical plug and a vacuum plug going into it. Replace that and the 02 sensor (on exhaust before catalytic converter.

Replacing these two things helped me tremendously. You might also replace the idel air control valve, which is on the driver side of the intake, bolted right by the air hoses. You have to take the plastic cover off the intake to get to it easier. All three parts through Rock Auto should run you less than $150. Check out my post (7-8 MPG, something way wrong). I've been where you are. Find somebody with a fuel pressure gauge and check your fuel pressure. If it's jumping up and down, change your fuel pressure regulator. It should remain constant...though I can't remember what the pressure is. It's around 30-40 psi. Anybody else know? At any rate, these replacements ALL helped me.
