Can any body tell me where to begin looking for the culprits? I just bought and 89 EB 302 with squishy steering, and a list of other small problems.

The fuel gauge stopped working the day I bought it, the temp gauge doesn't work, the rear glass motor seems to have a bad ground, and there appears to be some slack in the driveline. Since my new toy is also my daily driver (60 miles round trip) I need her to be right. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. [email protected]

Your steering issue is most likely the steering box. You will need to change that out. one way to check is to jack the truck up and see if there is any play in the ball joints or front end. It is helpfully to have a friend.

Both the fuel & temp gages could be bad sending units.

There is a ground wire that is attached to the body behind the driver's side tail light.

Slop in the drive line is most likely bad "U" joints.

I hope this helps. Don't forget to get some pics of your ride and post them in your gallery.

Good Luck

The coolant sensor for the guage is located in the front driverside of the intake . It has one wire going to it there is another coolant sensor mounted in the heater core adapter on the passengerside that one is for the computer . If you take the wire off the guage sender on the driverside and ground it out ( touch it to something metal on the engine the guage will go all the way to hot if it does this then the guage is working properly and you have a bad sender that one is pretty cheap but the one for the computer is like $30 . You can check the fuel guage the same way unplug the conector and short the 2 smaller wires that are for the guage together and the guage will go to full if it does then the sender is bad . DO NOT SHORT THE 2 BIG WIRES IN THIS CONNECTOR TOGETHER that would be bad very bad . Hope that helps :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

WILL CHECK IT OUT. TRIED TO GET GAUGES OUT BEFORE, BUT IT SEEMED LIKE EVERYTHING WAS VERY TIGHT BEHIND THE CLUSTER, AND IT DIDN'T WANT TO COME OUT
