Take the speedometer cable out of the T case and see if its broken most of the time the cable gets rusted up and it twist off . There is one 7/16 bolt that holds it in the t case and then under the dash there is a big plastic clip that holds it to the back of the gauge cluster looks kinda like a cage all you do is sqeeze it from one side or another and it will release and pull right off then you can see the other end to tell if its turning on both ends if it is then your speedometer is probably not any good in either case I have a very good sppedometer cable out of an 86 F250 and a gauge pack from the same truck that will cure your problem . PM me if you need it . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

If you have cruise control, you need a two section cable. One section is short and goes from the speedometer to a speed sensor, the other section is longer and goes from the speed sensor to the back end of your transmission. I have had them break at the speed sensor. After 86 the speed sensor was at the transmission for a few years and had a single section cable.

In the two section cable arrangement, the speed sensor sort of looks like a lollypop with two wires comming out of it and is located under the break booster perhaps a little toward the right side.

If you don't have cruise control, then you neeed a single section caqble.

Good luck,

:)>-
