Well, this all started a 2 weeks ago, when my rear window motor died. It didn't actually die, the torque pins just went bad. I ordered new ones online, waited and they came today. After installing and mounting the mtor/regulator assembly, i tested it, and it worked great. I pat myself on the back and think, I actually fixed something. I'm tightening things up, and as i am tightening the C-bracket to the window-BOOM. The window shatters all over my driveway, I didn't realize how tight it was. Man do I feel like a *******.

To the real question, any suggestions on where to look for new glass? Any idea how much it'll run me, if its too high, I'm just going to buy the taneou cover kit. Lastly, is this a DIY job (with help from smarter people this time) or do I have to take it to a mechanic or bdoy shop?

Thanks.

You can get a used window for about $100 bucks at a junkyard. A new one, professionally installed (That one might work for ya there Norm Abram) will run ya about $300.

That is funny...but you're not an idiot. I have a question along the same lines...

I'm about to put the new glass back in my tailgate...and in order to avoid doing the same thing Action Matt (aka Tim the Toolman) has done here, I hope someone would walk me through this part:

When placing the bracket on the glass (once it's inside the gate) I am fairly sure you use a rivet...right? I'm also aware of the two-halve spacers that go on either side of the glass. I think it's a 3/16" rivet. Do I use aluminum rivets with a large rivet gun? Are there any precautions I should take? Thanks!

i don't know what would be funnier watching it blow up or watching your face when it happened. i know i would jumped ten feet in the air and probably let out a yelp of some sort.

Just ordered my fast back top and am lookign to dispose of the cap. What would a good asking price be, I am not trying to get alot, I just don't have a place to store it and want it gone. I am going to try to sell it used to the place I am gonna get my exhaust done at. Whats a fair asking price?

Honestly free is usually the best price because shipping it is going to be a small fortune. Other people have tried to sell them without much luck in the past...

Yea, I wasnt going to try to ship it, I think my best bet would be giving it away. ****, if nobody wants it there is always the woods, ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

man i wouldnt give it away or dump it. i've seen those tops sell for a good buck or 2. if it's in good shape you may get a decent penny for it. if it's in fair shape they can bed line or repaint it whatever color and you can get some $$$ for it. i would do that and reinvest the money into your next project on your list.

i would still try craigslist. it's free and i always sell whatever i list FAST. not sure where you are but there will be a craigslist section for your general area. if you're out in a remote area post it in the craigslist section for the largest city near you. i would list it in the nearest big city anyway to get more bites. i'm willing to bet that someone will drive out and pick it up if it's fairly priced. if not all you've lost is like 10 minutes of yur time posting a free ad for it.
