I was out doing some wheeling and the trail was pretty bumpy and it slipped into two wheel drive and in didn't notice until i bot stuck on a small hill and my front wheels weren't spinning.

Is there something that i could do to keep my four wheel drive engaged?

This sounds like something I went through not that long ago.

The problem is the ball & cup at the bottom of the 4X4 lever. The spring is broken and something has gotten inside the cup making the lever only move straight back rather than following the gate.

Get under the truck and find that ball & cup and soak the heck out of it with "PB Blaster" or "WD-40" then work the lever side to side to free it up, then you will have to remember to put pressure (push toward the right) on the lever to keep it in the gate when you shift into 4WD Hi.

I hope this helps.

Good luck
