Skid plate

I have a 1991 XLT 5.8 with E4OD. When I bought it there was a skid plate in the back of it. I can't finger out where it fits - I thought it was for the transfer case, but it doesn't fit there. Is it even for my truck?

The only other place there's a stock skid plate is the gas tank. Do you have a picture
