Shorty Headers

Hey Everyone Heres my dilemma I went to install my headers yesterday have a95 302 5.0 XLT after removing the factory manifolds and installed the new shortys my Y pipe will not line up with the headers is it possible to cut off the first cat or is there a real function for it or is it just emitions I have the conector hole in the header for the plug laying on my back under the bronc somthing just doesn't look right any Ideas would be apprsiated

best thing, take it to an exhaust shop and have new pipe made to fit the headers to your existing exhaust system

Thanks I went down to the local shop they wanted 288.00 just to bend the Y pipe And trying to figure out how to adapt to the two small pipes that go to the first cat on the factory Y pipe I would love to ripp out everything but Mass. is pretty stricked on emitions

u shouldn't have any problems with your shorty headers fitting your y-pipe. thats why there called shorty headers their made to fit in a stock location. What brand are they because i didn't have anyproblems with mine that i installed in my truck. besides a broken bolt. but they fit my Y-pipe perfectly. and fyi mass is gonna stop the emissions testing for 95 and down non obd2 vehicles so i guess the sky is the limit as soon as this happens [-o< ....... that means no cats for me hehe

The headers are from Ford Performance they bolt up to the engine fine maybe its just from getting frustrated leaning over the front fenders on a stool and the busted up knukles going to rip it apart tommoro again with a clear head Thanks for the Help Everyone I'll let you know what happens
