I'm going to replace the shocks on my 93 Bronco. Problem is, I'm having a hard time finding cost effecient ones that will fit the dual mounts up front. I don't need anything fancy. Nothing over $50 a piece. Thanks in advance.

Go to Jegs.com

Check out the Belltech Nitrogen shocks. Around $45 a piece. I've heard they're pretty good...though I have not used them. Also, I like Jeg's because they give you free 1-2 day shipping, their prices can't be beat and they have great customer service. Ranchos are great, and they have them...depending on the application, they start at $42 a piece for the RS 5000 Off Roads at Jegs.

Yeah, Rancho RS 5000 or the Explorer Pro Comp ES3000 or ES9000 shocks cost about $35-$45 apiece. I like the Rancho's, have used them for years. Had a set of 6 ES9000's on my 84 for a year before the lift kit. The ride was much more stable, worked fine on the street and light offroad. They would overheat after a few hours of hard offroad use, but return to normal after cooling down. Check with Summit Racing, Jeg's or 4WheelParts.

Some people like the Monroe Magnums, I don't. The p.o. had a set on the Bronco when I bought it, and they were only 3 years old. All six were shot and no longer worked. You get what you pay for in shocks, so if you can afford a good offroad shock, most have a lifetime warranty. I've never broken a Rancho shock, but have thrashed other cheapie ones inside of a year.

actually the parent company of Monroe is Tenneco which is the manufacturer of the rancho line and to go further in the Monroe application guide/catalog lists rancho in fact their product line includes Monroe Walker Rancho DynoMax Clevite Elastomers Gillet Fonos Fric-Rot Kinetic Thrush DNX

as far as warranty for Monroe shocks Monroe Reflex Shocks and Struts

Monroe Sensa-Trac Shocks and Struts Monroe Gas-Magnum Shocks all come with a lifetime warranty and sensa-track and reflex have a 30 day satisfaction guarantee stating if not satisfied you may have the shock/strut of your choice installed on your vehicle for no additional cost providing they were installed professionally meaning that they will be replaced because your springs are worn out and you still don't like the ride of your truck after and you want brand X instead guess what you got it now the installer eats the labor and installs brand X so a bit of advise to professional mechanics don't recommend them without replacing springs as well because it can come back to haunt you but for the customers side **** the damn company for being so cocky with their warranty

sorry for being long winded on that but a shop I used to work for ate a lot of those free replacement deals and the tech did not get labor credit for the reinstall (the owner of the shop actually used the deal as a selling point)

It's just like any other parts company. They make cheap sh*t and they make good stuff...and they put different names on them. I'm buying Ranchos when my current ones wear out. Ranchos are the choice of offroad drivers for a reason. Monroes are okay if you want to cruise on the highway all day...but they just don't keep you sticking to the ground when offroad.
