Lately whenever i put my truck in reverse it shifts hard but every other gear is smooth I have plenty of transmission fluid it doesn't matter if i skip reverse put in neutral or drive and then go to reverse it slams into reverse it drives fine its just the initial placing it in gear where i have problems it sounds like someone is hitting it with a hammer what could be causing it?

I checked the joints and they were fine now i get the same noise when i put it in drive regardless if I go to R first or not i also get code 11 and 67 when i do my diagnostic test i'd like to fix this myself before i have to shell out big $$$$

Code Definition

11 system OK

67 (O.R) MAKE SURE A/C IS OFF -

Neutral Drive Switch (NDS) circuit fault or WOT A/C

Throttle (WAC) circuit

(O) (4.8L truck hold clutch in while running test)

Vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions have a safety device called a park/neutral safety switch. The job of the safety switch is to prevent someone from starting his or her vehicle while it is in drive or reverse. Like any other electrical type switch there are contacts inside that, when they line-up, allow electricity to go to the starter to crank the engine. If your starter works when the shifter is in neutral but not when in park, you

What trans? If it is an E4OD check the MLP sensor on the side of the trans. It will send bad messages to the trans on how to shift often causing the hard reverse shift as well as being able to start in all gears.
