hey, how do i figure out the ratio and size of my rear diff without taking the cover off(again). 4 teeth are missing almost half of themselves... So replacement will be soon. and whats the average price of replacing one in a shop? i dont have the time or tools to do it myself. thanks for the help.

If it's the original ring & pinion there is an axle code on the safety compliance sticker located on the rear driver door post. ex. 19 = open diff 3.54 H9 = limited slip 3.54, etc.

Cost? don't know.

is it the ring and pinnion missing teeth or the spiders :huh:

in my bronco just the spiders were damaged so thats all i replaced (the 2nd time it blew up on me) :((

if it is just the spiders just go to ford and get a spider kit and a new retaining pin for them (the big one and the little one should come in the kit)

should cost no more than $150 and u can do it yourself just take your time and make sure u use locktite on the little pin. :-B

good luck!!

Seabronc those are incorrect gear ratios. 19 and H9 are both 3.55, not 3.54s. Not like it matters though.

GQ, if you have a 3 speed auto its a C-6, they never used the C-4 or C-5 in a full size Bronco.

H9 = Ford 8.8 3.55:1 limited slip 3750 lb load capacity

There should also be a metal tag on one of the rearend bolts that has 3L55 on it.

K = C6 Automatic
