Hello all..

Yet another question..

As I am replacing my ball joints I see that my u-joints on both sides need to be replaced and that the axle U I guess that is what you would call it has widen out at the point where the u-joint is placed. So I figure that I should replace the axles and U-joints as I have everything apart.

So my question. I see that JBG has OEM shafts for my 95 and the price is not so bad.

What other options do I have for replacement parts other then OEM ?

who makes good quality replacement shaft assembly parts and at a fare price?

What would you use if you where going to replace your D44 front shafts?

Also is the RH side a bi**h to work on, I see that the LH side is a slip out - slip in kind of job?

thanks again for all the help.... :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Ocalabronco, I am interested and I will get with you via a PM.

But this does bring me to the question if I'm going to go through the trouble of replacing the axles,

let's up-grade.

I see that Yukon is on the market at the 3-4 hundred range give or take some. Who els is out there with good solid quality axle at a lower or equal value.

back to the net.. :)>-

ps.

How good is OEM, I know that this is a some what of a sujetive question ?

OEM is built to the original equipment manufacturer specifications in quality, material and size specifications and sourced from the OEM or someone who has baught the manufactrureing rights. Aftermarket can be a crap shoot. Some of the aftermarket stuff can be stronger, better, thicker and some AIN'T. Aftermarket may or may not fit without some PITA adjusting.

Generally aftermarket skins are made from thinner material than OEM. A simple example is the aftermarket door seals I baught from JCW. The the shape is just slightly different than the OEM seals and because of that the trim doesn't fit exactly right and the doors have to be slammed to close properly. I plan on replacing them when I go with all new seals and weatherstripping with OEM stuff. I just have to bite the bullet to remove allmost all of the internal trim panels in order to do it, so that is why I am going for the whole thing next round using OEM materials.

So the bottom line is that if you are going to buy other than OEM do a good job of checking out the source, their reputation and find out who else has used their stuff and what their experience is. I pretty much stick with OEM stuff, you gets what you pays for  so if it is cheaper, maybe that's because it is  . Probably if an aftermarket product is better than OEM the price will be higher not lower :-B .

Good luck,

:)>-
