well i am replacing my 2 front fenders along with my hood , tailgate and passenger door. know are my front fenders bolt on projects or are they welded in any way,
and the tailgate i need has its window up and in the topper (junk yard) how do i get the window down from inside the tailgate , which wires need power to roll it down.
and doors, which years are swappable with an 86 bronco, and hood as well.
and for rear defrost are the wires ran already if it didnt have it already am i SOL.
give me an honest opinion would it be better to replace my panels and leave them til i can afford a paint job or leave it all the same and keep the other body parts off til i can afford the paint. i need other guys opinions cuz i kinda have a feeling it will look ghetto if i put other colored panels on a black SHINEY bronco. thanks guys.
Sorry, I missed some of your questions, in too much of a hurry I guess.
OK answered the fender one
If the motor is good, the red with yellow stripe wire and yellow with red stripe wire attach to the motor, You can jumper the wires, swapping the leads changes the direction of the motor. If the motor is bad, then you need to remove the motor, a bit of a pain, but doable.
Definitely the 80 - 86 doors are swappable, I believe the 87 - 92 doors will also fit, someone want to sanity check me on that?
Do you have a defroster control under the air control console? I'm 99% sure your truck will have the wires and plugs for the defroster in the existing wire harness. If not, you could run them yourself. If you look under the dash you will most likely find a plug the the defroster control hooks to. You may have to take the tailgate harness from a truck with a defroster window. You will be looking for a 10 gauge wire that is Brown with light blue hash marks. That is the lead from the control to the rear window harness. The rear connector is behind the left tail light in 80 - 86. Diagram attached.
I usually spend the Winter collecting the stuff that I need to do a major project, that allows me to buy what I need as I have the money for it. If you are concerned about it looking Ghetto, maybe that is what you should do, gather the parts and buy the primer and paint as you have the cash.
Good luck on your project.
OH yah, if you are going to upgrade the front end, get a 87 - 92 cowling, ( the part the wiper arms stick out of), It is a better design and doesn't let all the tree crap and snow into the cowling area. I thought about that for a couple of years and the "Straw that broke the Camel's back", and moved me along on doing it was a wet granular snow that filled the area around the wiper motor arms and then froze making my wipers useless. I was also tired of Maple seeds flying out of the defrosters, leaves clogging up the duct work, etc.
