Alright, so I have this whining noise in the back of my 96 Bronco. Thought it was the differential or the bearings, but the whining persists when not moving, its coming from above the Fuel Tank. The Differential is fine, and the bearings are fine. My Gas Gauge is not working correctly though, and I wonder if that whining noise could be tied to that. Any suggestions or ideas?

It's normal for the fuel pump to whir pretty loud. The sending unit for the fuel guage is part of the pump assembly. Since you have to drop the tank to get to that stuff I would check all the wireing in the fuel guage circuit for loose or dirty/coroded connections or broken wires and make sure the guage itself is working before asuming the sender is bad.

I have that same problem with my guage and tank, I was told that the whinning noise is the fuel pump and it tends to be noisey.
