If your emergency brake cable did not fully release that could be one cause.does anyone know what else besides (RABS) that would keep the rear antilock light coming on i've replaced the sensor twice. HELP??? 1990 bronco fullsize 5.8
The (RABS) that's the sensor i replaced twice on top of rear differential. But the part store shows the (VSS) sensor is totaly different and it's located in the tranny so are the on the same warning rear antilock light. If your emergency brake cable did not fully release that could be one cause.I am sure there are others.
The typical cause is the VSS Vehicle Speed Sensor Otherwise known as the RABS for the earlier models I think pre '93 located on the top of the rear differential.
Yep, I had some of my stuff ars backwards. The (RABS) that's the sensor i replaced twice on top of rear differential. But the part store shows the (VSS) sensor is totaly different and it's located in the tranny so are the on the same warning rear antilock light.
Continuing withthe saga...Yep, I had some of my stuff ars backwards.I also have a '90 bronco. Our speedometer is cable driven. It is attached to the transfer case. There is a VSS there. I believe it is used for cruise control and for feeding information to the computer so that it can regulate the E4OD transmission. We also have a separate RABS sensor in the rear diff.
From what I have read, the problem is often the RABS in the rear. I know.. you relaced that sensor twice. This is just informational.
The newer trucks, I *think* '93-'96 don't use the VSS at the transfer case anymore, rather the RABS (in the rear) serves a dual function, that of RABS, and VSS. Aparrantly some refer to the the sensor in the rear as the RABS, and others refer to it as the VSS, which leads to confusion.
I have seen that there are ways to pull codes (for the anitlock breaking system) for the 93-96 broncos, but I have not found how to do so for a '90 bronco.
Hopefully someone with a lot more knowledge than me will be more helpful.
