For the last several months, my temperature guage has been running at about 50% (straight up and down). I had it pressure tested and they told me that the flow through the radiator was bad.

I have it in my budget now to fix the radiator but was wondering what the best option is. Should I completely replace it? Or should I just have it cored out or something? What are some suggestions?

Secondly, does anyone know what type/style/model (whatever) of radiator I have? I have a 1981 with a 6 cyl 300. There's no A/C, and the radiator measures by about 28" wide, 21" tall, and 1.5" thick.

If I should replace it, where's the best place (price) to get a new one?

Thanks.

My personal preference is to replace it. You could be wasting your money on a boil out, it might work for a while and then just clog up again. You can get a heavy duty one from Auto Krafters http://www.autokrafters.com. The radiator without AC is number 557 ( 129.95) and the HD one is number 558 (134.95), radiator cap on the right side of the truck. Personally, I'd get the HD one and also consider adding a transmission oil cooler.

By the time you add shipping you can most likely get one from your local friendly auto parts store for the same price.

Good luck,

:)>-

Thanks for the info. Looks like my Bronco came with the Heavy Duty one stock. I'm waiting to hear back from Auto Krafters as the radiator didn't have a parts number with it (just the 558) so I'm not sure what shipping is. At $134.95 with shipping, it's probably still cheaper than anywhere around here, which I haven't found it for any less than $200.

Wow, thanks a lot. That is definitely the best price I've ever seen. I ordered mine off of there.
