I have a 91 fullsize. I was wondering how reliable the push button 4wd is. I've had bad experiences with them before.

ive got a 93 and my push buttons work great, although the good ol' fashioned shifter is better in my opinon. less wires, more reliable. but thats just me.

I have push botton, no problems. I have heard that in very cold weather with snow the system can freeze. But that was in northen Canada like -30 out with 30mph winds, snow and freezing rain.

I had problems with the push buttom years ago in 0 temps on occasion.

I've also had to replace the electric motor on my 92 once but overall it's ok

I had one Ford that I always had to rock it back & forth to get it to engage but that truck was pretty used up, but would always engage.

The motor on my freinds went out when we were sitting in a hole stuck in 2 wheel drive. Lucky some one told us we could remove the electric motor and manual switch into 4x4. worked great and got us back to camp.

The low range doesn't seem to work. Is there supposed to be an indication on the dash when it comes on?

you should have an indicator light by the puch button that lights up

you need to put it in 4wd 1st & should here a noticeable clunk when it goes in low gear
