I think my cat is going and I don't want to drop the cash to replace it, if I put a straight pipe in its place would that be alright? I'm thinking of running straight pipe up to a flowmaster.

guess california is getting to me but i would replace the CAT. anything to help maintain lower emissions is a good thing. and with more and more states cracking down on this stuff, it would **** to get popped. besides that it could lead to one more nail in the coffin- if it came down to installing equipment to lower emissions and possibly quiten my bronco vs. having it made illegal to drive on the street- i'd take the emissions equipment anyday.

i may be in the minority here and take heat for this but, it is the right thing to do regardless of your state laws. and every person who doesn't think they should will be singing a different tune when we're all forced into electric rice burners. either that or pay massive vehicle taxes. so even if you have to justify it differently- think of it selfishly and do it because you want to keep broncos on the road.

Yeah I keep forgetting about your emissions laws, We have none :D/ Sorry, up here I would say chuck the CAT. Its kind of funny, The US is against the Kyoto Accord but is so **** about vehical emissions. In Canada, The Kyoto is a main priority and vehical emissions is not. Anyways forget politics, Lets go wheelin' >

Thats how my bronco stays on the road. :-& #036;
You definetly need the cat if you are going to the emmissions test, they will fail it even before they put the probe in the tailpipe(in our neck of the woods).They always ckeck with a mirror first for a cat .If your within the inspection period your fine for now.I put a 71 Chevy350(I know bad word)in a 85 Cutlass that originally had a v-6 and got away with headers an straight pipes for four years.As long as you get a CAT on there before inspection your good to go.The cops around here never ckeck for a cat,they stopped us twice with the Cutlass loud and all and never said anything.

okay, I understand you don't want to pay the cashola but lets be realistic here. When it comes to Connecticut they are real ball breakers during emmisions and inspections.The cats could run you some money,but go and get a universal instead of a direct fit they may not have the flanges but you can mate them up with some $1.99 couplings. Alot of people say don't worry about in the long run.Just run it straight or who the heck needs a cat anyways but I say it will cost you more in the long run if you get cought by a spot inspection. So lets be real they aren't going to pay for the ticket. And hollowing them out can make a perfectly tune vehicle fail with higher readings. It happened to me in my torino.

My Cat is laying in a pile at my parents house Indiana has no emission checks (to my knowledge maybe in Indy) so I avoided that expense
