I wanted to take my top of my bronco today because i have never done it before and i ran into a problem. It seems like there is a special tool needed to remove the bolts holding the top on. I dont have this tool and I was wondering where I could get it or even if my top does come off. Thanks for your help

p.s. what can I do about the plastic studs that are over the bolts, when I try to take the plastic off to get to the bolts all the little studs holding it on break.

THe 93-96 Bronco's use a "Tamper-Proof Torx" bolt. You can get the bit for a regualar 1/4" or 3/8" - drive socket or just a plain bit at any auto parts store. CHeck the size and head pattern at the store before you leave, as there are a few different styles of Torx bolts. The size you want is either a T-40, T-45 or T-50.

I think you have to cut the wires that run to the third brake light as well? Let me know if that is true or not, I am contemplating taking mine off, but I am actually wondering how much of a pain in the **** it will be. I had a 79 and that sucker came off no problem. Also there are a few people in my family who shall remain nameless, who state as fact that once the top is off, "the thing will always squeak, and it will leak everytime it rains"! Now, I know the seal on my 79 was as tight as a ****** on prom night, that is what they made the removable top for right?

No you dont have to cut the brake light on mine, it just plugs in so all you have to do is unplug it, its on the drive side by the tailgate and covered by the trim
