Hi.

I have a 1983 Bronco 351W Holley with Headers.

When i start my truck in the morning after a cold night. I got to keep my foot on the gas or it will stall..

Also, if i give it too much gas while its not warmed up it will start to bog and then stall.

If anyone has any ideas on what i can do to fix this.. That would be great.

Thanks

i would say check for vacuum leaks if you find some replace hoses. and check the plugs and wires for wear and tear and plugs can tell you alot about what your truck is doing. you can take a plug out and compare photos online and it will tell you if it is running to rich, etc. and i would recommend seabronc's opinion as well if he doesn't post here PM him. I don't think he will mind and he has alot of good info when it comes to these types of problems. if it bogs down as you accelerate, you also might want to check the timing. also another thing my be fuel delivery. check the fuel filter, pump and all that jazz. it could be alot of things. but check everything first before you start buying parts. you will nickel and dime alot of money away.

Good luck.

You could check to make sure the choke butterfly is closed when the engine is cold that would account for having to hold foot on gas to keep running when you first start . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Choke sounds suspect, but I'd like to ask a question about the vacuum lines? Have you removed most of them? If so, there are some of them that have nothing to do with emissions and are there just for cold start and run. Do you have the stock air cleaner? The vacuum line to it is also for cold operation. Without them in the winter, my truck acts the same and won't even move until it is nearly up to normal operating temperature.

Good luck,

:)>-

sounds like choke to me...i used to run a holley on my 85 non choke race carb and i had to sit there and hold it at about 1500 for a good 3 or 4 minutes before i could let it idle
