Hmmmm with the vehicle off and in park and 2 wheel drive ( there now I dont get the safety speech ) unlock the hubs and get under it and turn the driveshaft by hand if it turns hard unbolt it from the T case then try again if it still turns hard then you probably have a u joint that has seized up if it turns easy ( make sure the u loint you unbolted from the T case moves easily too ) then you have problems in the T case and if it doesnt act weird in 2 wheel drive then it could be a bearing that the front output shaft rides on so try turning the front yoke while your under there with the driveshaft unbolted it should turn very freely in 2 wheel drive it it turns hard your goona have to take it apart . Theres a guy on ebay though that has all the parts for these borg and warner T cases and its cheap put transmission exchange in the search box on the home page of ebay and then check the box for titles and descriptions it should come up . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

havn't had time to do those checks yet but while i am at it how much time is involved in rebuilding a t case(yes i have the manual for the one in the truck) thinking about it as i have a very good doner trans and a leaking rear main may do all together if needed

I think your thinking to technical right off the bat. if this is a vehichle you just aquired then i would start by making sure the axles are the same gearing. I have seen it a hundred times, somone blows out the rear end, replaces it and the gearing is different, maybe they didn't know, maybe they planned on changing it or what ever. tipically when you put it in 4 it will feel like it's ripping itself apart or your brakes are on. try and find the tags on the dif to see what the gearing is in each axle if you can't find them come back hear and me or somone else can give step by step on how to figure the gearing ratio! B)

My apolagies! it sounded like you may have just bought it, can only think of two things right now . after you remove the drivshaft and try what blade said to do, if that doesn't work have you tried just locking the front hubs and not putting in 4 (assuming you have a manual shift, not electric hubs) to ensure the axle isn't binding for some reason.

Well my first thought was unequal gear ratioos for front and rear, but since you are sure that bothe are the same ratio, then it sounds like frozen u-joints or spindle bearings.

Good luck,

am kind of thinking that the spindle bearings may be the case also as i was unable to find them when converted hubs from the 87-88 crap is it possible to **** them as long as they are not grenaded?

Actually i would say NO. You have to remove the spindles in order to get at them. You should be able to get a set from Jeff's Bronco Graveyard and also get a new slinger and seals. When the seal goes it lets them rust up and once that happens they are trash. In order to get at them you have to take the spindle off, so that is everything down to the spindle. If your dust covers are in pretty bad shape, that is a good time to replace it also.

Jeff's Bronco Graveyard carries all of these parts. The Spindle bearing kit is around 10.00 bucks.

Good luck,

:)>-
