Has anyone here ever run one of those prelube accumulators ? I'm just starting to look into them and wondered if anyone had ever run one or had any experience with them. There seem to be several types but I haven't yet begun to compare cost. I've seen some that are just straight prelubers & some that prelube & also carry keep about a 3qt reserve to shoot in if the pressure falls below a certain setpoint. Seems to me there's a lot of advantages to one of these, prelubing the engine has to be the greatest advantage but there's the security of having a 3qt reserve in case of pressure loss (clogged pickup, blown pump, pretzeled driverod, take your pick) and increasing the total system volume to 9 or 10 qts would also be beneficial (but only if the reserve is circulated) and being able to pump out the oil would sure make for convienant oil changes especially if combined with a remote dual filter arrangement.
I can see why Detroit never installed them, after all who wants factory engines running 500,000 miles ?
