I would like some thoughts from everyone on what they think of the following power addons for the old horse.

Water Injection

Throttle Body Spacer

CO2

Custom Cold Air Intake

Or any other home brew experiments for more power, and/or economy. I know if you want economy you dont drive the Bronco, but yall know what I mean.

Water Injection with any of the following combo. Water only, Water and 20% Alcohol, or Water and 40% alcohol. The higher the percentage of Alcohol the more expensive it gets, but here is what I know on Water injection.

Water is injected into the intake, there it is allready in a fine mist so it can be feed to the cylnders easier. The water absorbs heat in its conversion to steam, thus cooling the engine. The steam creats a bit harder down force as the O2 in the water helps combustion work easier. Alcohol burns at a slower rate and its combustion rate is slightly behind the primary combustion so it helps even further on the down stroke. End Results are a cooler running engine that does not foul as easy, and reduces the gunk that forms on your valves.

Throttle body spacer, well on a supercharged engine it helps to cool but not sure by much. Fuzzy on the reasons for using these but ads say it promotes more HP and MPG.

Co2 is just a CO2 spray like a NOS spray but is just acting as a refrigerant. This gives cooler intake temps, and cooler air burns better, thus getting more and cleaner power.

Custom Cold Air Intakes are fun projects. Whether you use flex hose, or heat and hand bend PVC, they just help to get cooler air into the engine. I have allways made my own intakes for my imports when I raced them, those and my redneck turbos. The redneck turbo is just a blower motor used to blow fuel vapors from a boats engine compartment. Slap one on your intake for a small CFM engine and get about 1-2 psi or slightly more. They were able to reduce my 1/8th mile times by 3-4 tenths of a second, not bad power adder for $20.

I've got K&N FIPK that I really like on my Bronco. It made a noticeable difference, but not really until I opened the exhaust up a little bit. It would **** all kinds of air in, but with nowhere for it to go. K&N with opening the exhaust will give you better performance. I had a TBS on my Bronco too. I put it on at the same time I put the K&N on so there was a difference. I took the TBS off because my Bronco didn't want to downshift to pass if I was going over 55 and I just wanted to see if that would help. What a difference. No TBS improved my performance. I wish I would have put them on at seperate times and I would have known that from the beginning.

I wish I still worked for the electrical contractor I was with years ago, we had a PVC pipe heater so we could make bends in pvc pipe up to I think 6" it made those unusual bends so much easier than cutting and putting multiple shallow elbows. I could use a propane torch and do the same. The trick is getting even heat around the are to be bent so it is uniform. I may try bending some scraps if I can get some that will match the size of my intake hoses. Never understood using 2 seperate hoses for the intake to teh breather box. I am quite sure that doing the intake in PVC will have no real effects but its different and cost is nothing if you find scraps of pipe around a construction site. I have a K&N filter in but not any special breather box replacment, I will however put on some sort of re direct for the intake air so it gets a fresh supply from outside. Most vehicles have the intake routed over the radiator for some reason and I never understood that. You want cold air going into your engine so why put the intake over your radiator.

Water injection will be my next project and the intake later. I am interested to see how the performance and running of the truck will be with water and alcohol being injected into the intake.

Big question, what do yall thikn about when the injection should go on, maybe during acceleration only, and isnt there a NOS switch for that type application for shooting the NOS only when the accelerator is being pushed. I will look into that.

If your looking for a little boost then definetly get the k&n FIPK. Dont waste your money on a TBS its not worth it.
