The idea of a spacer is to give the fuel more time to vaporize and mix with the air plus give a litttle more space for the mixture to make the turn to the intake ports. However, I haven't seen any controlled independent test results that back up the manufacturer claims. Independent being an organization that doesn't get paid by the manufacturer to test a product and has no financial interest in you buying it. Perhaps someone else has seen some.
You would probably be better off getting a intake manafold that has a better flow pattern than spending money on the spacer.
I heard a report on a radio car show talk about such things as spacers, tornado filters and so on. Most of the expert said the same thing don't waste your money on them. The parts and engine were/are engineered to perform at peak performance. Most of the upgrades did little or no improvements and some actually hurt your engine and performance. A good tune up and oil changes with proper parts do more then the late night TV sales pitch you see on cable TV, or in an ad.
