Never heard of a four core water pump, so I guess you mean four core radiator, triple bypass water pump, and thermostat?

My guess would be...

1. worn out fan clutch

2. slipping fan belt

3. low coolant level, ( I assume that you checked that)

4. low percentage of antifreeze in the coolant. ( water boils at 212, with 50/50 antifreeze its higher.. I don't know the number)

5. incorrect ignition timing (I may be way off here, so someone please correct me if I am wrong)

6. clogged water jacket

7. faulty temp guage or temp sender (is it really overheating?)

8. and last but not least.... missing fan shroud.

What they said..!

Plus.., please share some helpful info. (fill in your signature) like what motor 170 200 289 302 351...??

Has it been re-built at any point...?

"was work all done recently and then this happened?"

What "J" means here..., what were the symptoms, if any, prior to these parts change-outs..?

"67 in driveway will overheat"

What temps are we talking here...? Is it boiling out the overflow......?

Temps while driving..?

Where are you...?

The more info. you supply...the greater the chance someone here may be able to help.... B)

if he changed out his radiator is it sitting in the same spot as the old one? if it is sitting higher then stock then it wont work as advertised... i had a firebird once that when the local walmart was putting on new tires the jacked it up by the radiator support and pushed the radiator up a few inches and it would too overheat... didnt figure it out until after i replaced all the parts that you have mentioned... once i beat the support back done it ran as cool as can be... just a thought...

We gotta keep the wife happy.......

"..blew off the bottom hose on the freeway at 65mph"

WOW...! this is bad.... not a normal issue.

Like Joe19 said..

"6. clogged water jacket"

Something on this order is the culprit...stopping water circulation.

Is the thermostat facing correctly..?

Check your manual...!

"..do i need a pusher at slow speed ?"

No.., unless you're in Australia...302's cool quite well when all is correct.

"was work all done recently and then this happened?"

You didn't answer "J"'s question....? This is important.....

My next step would be to remove 'stat to be sure it's in correctly...if so, then leave it out... install a "flush-kit" on the heater hose..., hook up garden hose & run eng. to see if = amount comes out the rad. cap adaptor.

If it doesn't flow, (& poss. clean out some junk) then it's on to plan "B" $-)

(if crud does come out...rad. will have to be flushed down afterward.)

Instructions are on flush kit (cheap & handy)

BTW.., 1967 has a 289 cu.in. eng. Has yours been replaced.?
