I have just finished replacing everything between the front Door posts and Rear Corner Post. I was wondering if I should seal the seam between the upper, lower qtr posts where they meet the corner post. If you guys have any other tips for me on avoiding rust I would really apppreciate it. I just dont want my Investment rusting on me on done the road.

Well, I sure would seal it. It sounds a little late for this, but I coat the inside surfaces with POR15 before putting new metal on and then on a seam like you are talking about, I put on a bead of silicone caulk to keep water from intruding and then use bondo filler to feather the metal surfaces to hide the joint. Since you have already put the new rocker panel on, you could; weld, grind and smoth out the seam, or just use bondo to neatly hide the seam and not leave a way for water to get in.

Sorry about rust, but rust and metal go hand in hand and you can never feel that you have beat it :-& . Rust is nothing other than the metal trying to get back to it's natural state  . You should be on a constant vigle for rust and correct it as soon as you detect it. If you don't, in the words of the Terminator, "I"LL BE BACK" :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> .

Good luck,

:)>-

The problem with bondo is that it will crack and will not flex with the body panels. If you are going to use a body filler there is a product called Rage that I used and it hasn't cracked in 6-7 years. It actually flexes with the movement of the body. The problem with any body filler is that once moisture penetrates it, you are in for trouble. I wouldn't think twice about making sure before you paint it to seal it with exterior silicone then paint it. That will be better than any body filler will do.

Where did you get that Rage? Do you have a link to someone who sells it? I'd like to take a look at it. As far as bondo cracking, I guess it depends on where it is. I've had it down the full length of my rear quarter panels where I overlapped new metal and It has never shown a crack in the 3+ years it has been there. However I can see it happening if the metal flexes. That Rage stuff sounds like just what I am looking for to to fill seams between skins, if it is paintable that is.

They have changed the old description that they used to use. They dont advertise that the filler "will flex with body panels" anymore. But just remember, in all how much does it really flex. I just know that it does more so than bondo does and it is a better product than bondo. This is the company website.

Look under products, it will be there. They have even come out with 2 newer versions than when I used it. So it sounds like it is a whole lot better now.

this is a company out of Ft. Collins, CO that sells it.
