I have been having serious issues in the past 6 months with a 1992 xlt that suppossedly had a "rebuilt" Ford 351 engine with less than 30k miles on it.
FIrst issue, was a blown gasket after 2 road trips, I was blowing white smoke, and coolant was overflowing. Paid 1400 bucks to fix that.
Got it back, within a day it was stalling out on a regular basis, took it back, and they said it was problems with timing belts, plugs, wires, crank shaft, valve lifters, ect. Fixed that, another 1300 bucks
Within an hour of driving out of the shop....check engine light goes off, i notice the oil pressure was zeroed out, then it died on me coasting at 55mph. Took it back, new oil pump, rods, bearings, cam shaft, Another 1300 bucks.
The truck was in the shop 4 out of the 6 months i've owned it, no joke. Personally I think its crappy craftsmanship on my mechanics end. At first I thought it was just bad luck, who knows, still could be.
Anyways, today I posted it on the truck trader because I have to sell it now to pay off my CC Billls for all this work, took it out, cleaned it, opened the hood and checked in the coolant resevior, and noticed it was milky black & Dirty like there is oil in it.
I checked my oil, and there doesnt seem to be anything water mixed in with it. I checked my radiator, and everything is bright green clean antifreeze. Seems everthing is clean.
my question is.......because the coolant wasnt flushed since the gasket job, and then I had a fiasco with the oil pressure, and I am not blowing white smoke, and the next logical areas seem free and clear.......could it just be from the oil pressure problem and hasnt been cleaned out yet??
I am considering just getting the coolant flushed again and starting over, see if oil gets mixed again. I dont know what else to do next.
I have spent over 5k on this truck in 6 months with the above mentioned work(basically a rebuilt engine) along with replacing filters, shocks, brakes, ect. So this definately sucks. Any words of encouragement are appreciated. Thanks guys.
