First check the PCV valve, if blocked or if the hose to vacuum is faulty it will not remove oil fumes, run the engine and pull the vacuum hose off the PCV valve, if engine starts running rough you have vacuum, pull the PCV valve and check it, replace if in doubt . Second check oil pressure if low you could have major wear issues in the engine. Good luck

it's not the PCV, i just had that replaced during the tune up. and the oiil pressure posts as normal and according to the guy who just did the head gaskets and such, he said the motor looked really good.

i also heard the EGR was a possiblity..

keep the ideas comin...thanks!

I agree with indoZ. If the PCV valve is new, still check the hose and metal tube leading to it for clogs or sludge. OF course, be sure to check the cooling system, you might be running really hot to "smoke" your oil like that.

OK 404, PCV valve is out, so when the guy replaced your headgaskets did he also overhaul the heads? This with relation to valve stem seals, if they are bad oil will burn. Did he do pressure tests on all cylinders? If not then you could have bypass of the pistonrings and burn oil. Just thinking out loud, let us know !

I am interested in what this might be... Both my buddie's Bronco and mine(before I swapped in the diesel) did exactly that. It never whent away. The PVC and tubing were good, as well as the oil press. Both our Broncs had 351 w/ 3spd autos.

If the vavle seats on the heads are good and the rings, then maybe when he put it back together the center bolts on the intake manifold might be loose and allowing exhaust to enter the motor (gasket is leaking). Usually the oil will pump out the dip stick tube with that kind of pressure (happened to me) but if its just a slight leak the air pressure has to go somewhere. Unually out the pvc valve. I added a air breather type oil cap on the valve cover to help air pressure escape the motor until I had time to fix the problem. This kept the oil from pumping out the dip stick tube). It a thought...

Hey, that's more than a thought. I also have a breather cap where my oil filler cap used to be, and it has relieved much of the pressure on the PCV valve. While I have a fresh longblock kit, my oil pressure is low, according to the idiot gauge.
