I just picked up a 1995 Bronco with the 5.8L with 150K miles. I'm a little curious as where the cooling temp gauge runs for everyone. Mine moves between the "M" and "A" in "NORMAL" most of the time so far. Just seems a little higher than I remember is being on my '92 & '94 with the same motor years ago.

Any info would be great.

That is a little high, that would equate above 200 on a gauge with numbers on it.. I'd start with flushing the system, replacing the thermostat, and the radiator cap. If that doesn't do it, there are other things you can do like add a transmission cooler, larger radiator. etc.

Good luck,

:)>-

Are you sure your temp gauge is not shot? I know mine is and it rarely get up passed the N. Because of this, I check the coolant levels a lot more often to catch any potential problems.

Also, it might be helpful to check your thermostat. Some people pull them and forget to put them back in. I haven't checked this bronco but I had one a few years back that didn't have one. The temp gauge in that one only worked part of the time and kept overheating. Since the gauge didn't work right, I didn't realize there was a problem until it was almost too late. Put a new thermostat and fixed the problem.

And SeaBronc, good suggestion about a larger rad. I had to replace mine recently and the "stock" part at Advance Auto was too thin compared to the one that was in the truck. So I had to go back and complain. Turns out I had to ask for the "heavy duty" one instead. Go figure.

I know its getting hot as the upper hose gets very hot. I'm gonna try changing the thermostat, coolant, temp sensor and the radiator cap. If that doesnt do it I'm gonna look at maybe replacing the clutch fan. Gotta remember everything is 12 years old on this thing. Sad part is I'm selling my built up 2006 F-150 with 7,800 miles on it to build this ... haha

I've had two Broncos (an 88 and a 89) and I had problems with all my gauges. That's why I asked....

Funny how these thing work... good luck with selling the truck.... :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
